The relentless drive and passionate pursuit to make life better for those living with rare disease in Canada is all encompassed in our 10 colours and 10 letters. Painting this picture and sharing it far and wide has been the responsibility of our largest sponsor Staples. Their ability to expertly print in large quantities at rock bottom prices has been very useful to Outrun Rare and the Rare Disease Foundation. When we first entered into this agreement as an official print sponsor I must admit I knew only a fraction of what Staples print scope was. Since, I’ve learnt that Staples pretty much prints anything and everything including all banners and signs, shirts, water bottles, event tents, decals and even vehicle wraps!
Our Outrun Rare orange tech shirt is something I hold near and dear. When Tracy Townsend and I were working with Eric Riddick and Jamey Johnston from Staples building this shirt from nothing we viewed countless brands and materials and finally landed on the one you see in my training photos. In my opinion, it was the best quality, best colour and best fit from all the others we test drove. Eric informed us that it was also by far the most expensive. This troubled us as the intent is to use the shirt sales as a way to raise funds for much needed research, every extra dollar spent meant one less for the Rare Disease Foundation. We had a dollar amount in mind and when Eric came back to us quoting not even half of what we wanted to spend, we were floored!!! This is all possible because of Staples huge purchasing power and print volume. What would have cost us WAY more elsewhere cost us a fraction at Staples. So there you have it, we got one hell of a nice shirt (if I don’t say so myself), comfort of knowing we can print large quantities on the fly, selling in select Staples stores in Canada, and the most important part, the lowest price possible because a greater margin on shirt sales means more of each purchase goes directly to those who need it most.
The revenue generated from the shirts and other Outrun Rare merchandise at Staples will go a long way in helping the Rare Disease Foundation fund research and support families living with the over 8000 known rare diseases in Canada. Thank you Staples!
